Bertie Bottle Campaign
We can all make a difference!
The Bertie Bottle campaign was initially created as part of a school project by Jessica. Now a local family are promoting Bertie Bottle to businesses in Northamptonshire who would like to make a difference and recycle plastic so we can keep the oceans fantastic!
Jessica was heartbroken by the recent Blue Planet series which brought to our attention the problem with litter and in particular plastics which end up in rivers and oceans.
What We Do
Jessica and her family are trying to roll out Bertie Bottle to local businesses in Northamptonshire.
Local businesses can pledge what they are going to do/are doing to combat the use of single use plastics, e.g. reduce use, replace with a suitable alternative and/or no longer provide plastic straws.
Some businesses are willing to encourage customers who purchase a hot drink to takeaway to bring their own re-useable mug as well as recycling all cans, glass and plastic bottles.
Each business who joins the Bertie Bottle Campaign will receive a personalised poster to be displayed in their business to show what they have pledged and to promote their pledges. This will be showcased on the Bertie Bottle Campaign Facebook and Twitter pages.
Not only is Jessica and her family promoting recycling and encouraging businesses to reduce the use of plastic, they are also highlighting the issue litter causes to the local wildlife. Bertie Bottle regularly litter picks in their local area and has set up a monthly community litter pick along with the Parish Council and the support of local businesses.
I created Bertie Bottle because of my concern about plastic that ends up in the oceans and the problem litter causes to wildlife. Please help me to protect the oceans and wildlife. Thank you
